Issue 40: Washington Square Review Launch Party

On Friday, October 27, Washington Square Review celebrated the launch of our fall issue number 40. Contributors read, editors spoke, the web team snapped photos, and the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House was vibrant with excitement after months of hard work. Pictured above left to right, contributors Rivka Galchenzakia henderson-brown, and Chinelo Okparanta each read their incredible work, some from Issue 40 and some new work, too. Open to the public, the readings were followed by a wine and beer reception complete with a Washington Square Review photo booth, custom temporary tattoos and the brand new Issue 40 on display.

During the reception, staff members of Washington Square Review mingled and took photos with fellow CWP students and faculty. Students from Rivka Galchen's spring workshop at NYU snagged a photo with the contributor, while Co-Poetry Editors Maggie Millner and Maddie Mori got a photo with contributor zakia henderson-brown.

Chinelo Okparanta read from her issue 40 poem "That Shoe I Bought..." as well as her beautiful novel Under the Udala Trees and was introduced by Co-Interview Editor Emeritus Jess Pane. zakia henderson-brown was introduced by Co-Poetry Editor Maggie Millner, and read several poems, including the amazing "A Thousand More." Fiction Editor Alyssa diPierro introduced Rivka Galchen, who read her brilliant non-fiction piece "Our Potatoes," which was also featured in Issue 40.

Don't forget to purchase Issue 40, and follow Washington Square Review on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for updates. Submittable will open December 15 for our next issue!
