MANUSCRIPTS ARE REVIEWED FROM:
AUGUST 1ST THROUGH OCTOBER 15TH
and DECEMBER 15th THROUGH FEBRUARY 1ST.
You may submit either electronically or by mail, though we prefer online submissions.
Submissions for our annual contest, judged by Shane Jones, Karen Russell, and Matthea Harvey are also open. Click here for more information about how to enter.
Mail submissions must be accompanied by a SASE for reply
and a cover letter with the following information: author’s name, address, phone number, email address and title(s)of submission(s).
Contributors will receive two copies of the issue in which they are published and an opportunity to purchase additional copies of that issue at half-price. Unfortunately we are not able to offer any monetary remuneration for publication.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Response time is generally 2-4 months.
All rights revert to the author upon publication. Work must be previously unpublished or reprints authorized by the author.

Note: Current NYU students and recent (within the last 3 years) NYU MFA graduates/affiliates are not eligible to submit to Washington Square.
Poetry submissions should not exceed ten pages/five poems.
Fiction submissions should not exceed 20 pages.
Same page guidelines, including the original text. Translator is responsible for securing all (re)printing permissions of both the original language and the translation.
