my merest pleasure

god’s merest pleasure
i do not like them
to commingle
in my exposure
to destruction

*

but how
to make one’s hypocrisy

less banal
without becoming loathsome
how is a day spent
& treasured up

*

a secret
casts a shadow
over one’s life

thankfully
it is a secret
shadow

*

my favorite
provocation
is a person
who is

not at all
concerned

*

i know
it is none of my business
but i was  wondering
how every person
became

exactly who they are

*

those who show up
for the performance
of desire
are disappointed

with the spectacle
of need

*

i want to show you
the softer side
of oblivion

for the fact
that i have not seen it
myself

*

we could eat
it seems to me

our fill of wretchedness
& laugh
a great deal
from our bellies

*

our predicament

it’s as easy
as turning
a key
into a needlessness
for locks

*

i remember
blame

when its
establishment
felt dearer
than human bonds

*

a person forgets
not everyone
has looked at their face

& read
the same
shitty allegory

*

maybe we aren’t
so carelessly
put together
as our disguises

nor as haphazard
as our luck

*

of the secret union
between grace
& the irrevocable
how do you know
you are not

the offspring

*

to one
whose fate is huge
arbitrary &
unknown

circumscription
has its charms

*

fate is interesting
insofar as guilt
is a phenomenon

inasmuch as loneliness
is a common response
to the fact of others

*

if i am to be
believed

it would make a person
very unhealthy
to  live
without regret
